Type: Distribution - sleeve sponsorship with a co-branded payment card
Sport: Football / Premier League
Announced: September 2026

  • The commercially interesting part is the co-branded payment card. SumUp and Manchester United will launch a card offering rewards at official club outlets and participating businesses across the UK, linking the sponsorship directly to SumUp’s consumer Personal Account.
  • The deal is reportedly worth more than £20 million a year, according to City AM, although Manchester United and SumUp have not disclosed the financial terms. The reported figure would make it a club-record deal for the sleeve position.
  • The partnership comes as SumUp expands beyond its traditional merchant payments business. The company, founded in 2012, is building its consumer financial offering alongside its established payment terminals and merchant services business.
  • Luke Griffiths, Chief Commercial Officer and UK Chief Executive at SumUp, said: “Manchester United is one of the most iconic and followed clubs in the world, with a fanbase that continues to grow across generations and borders. That extraordinary reach and passion make this partnership a natural fit for SumUp.”
