Adyen and FC Bayern Munich are extending their partnership after faster in-person payments helped the club process around 10% more transactions per match day.
- FC Bayern Munich and Adyen began working together in 2023 to connect payments across the club’s fan touchpoints, including catering, retail stores, ticketing and e-commerce. The shared payment platform now links stadium transactions with the club’s wider commerce operations, helping manage the pressure of match days when thousands of fans need to pay within a short window.

- Since switching to Adyen, in-person payments have become an average of three seconds faster per transaction. Across thousands of payments on a match day, the time savings have helped Bayern process around 10% more transactions, while reducing queues and giving fans more time to enjoy the game.
- The setup includes mobile payment terminals in club stores, SIM-enabled terminals used by Allianz Arena catering partner DO & CO, and Tap to Pay capabilities for transactions around the stadium. Adyen’s platform is also integrated natively into SAP Customer Checkout, connecting payment data with the club’s back-end ERP and commerce channels.
- The partnership also supports Bayern’s international business. The club can offer fans in more than 200 countries over 250 payment methods through Adyen, including Alipay+ QR-code payments at the Allianz Arena. During the club’s Summer Tour in Asia, online sales in the respective markets increased by several hundred percent, according to the case study.
- “The perfect fan experience should simply be fun without any friction. Payment should work invisibly in the background,” said Rouven Kasper, Member of the Executive Board and Chief Marketing & Sales Officer at FC Bayern Munich. The extension will allow both sides to keep developing the fan experience, with potential future services including Click & Collect and Click & Serve.
