Bank of America is extending its long-running naming rights deal for the Carolina Panthers’ home, keeping its name on the stadium as the venue heads through a $1.3 billion-plus transformation.

  • The roots go well beyond a stadium sign. Bank of America’s relationship with the Panthers stretches back to the franchise’s formation in the 1990s, when former bank CEO Hugh McColl played a role in helping secure the NFL expansion franchise for the Carolinas. Brian Moynihan, Chair and CEO of Bank of America, called the partnership “one of the most enduring in professional sports,” pointing to the bank’s nearly 20,000 employees in the area and a local history dating to 1874.
  • The extension arrives alongside a huge refresh of the asset carrying Bank of America’s name. Tepper Sports & Entertainment has increased its private commitment to complete the full renovation scope and additional design enhancements, pushing total project investment above $1.3 billion, while the City of Charlotte’s commitment remains fixed at $650 million. Construction is being phased so Panthers games and Charlotte FC matches can continue while work moves ahead, with interior construction underway in 2026 and more fan-facing elements beginning in 2027.
  • The finished venue is being designed for a lot more than gameday. Plans include expanded indoor-outdoor gathering areas, larger scoreboards, upgraded seating and premium spaces, new retail and food options, connected technology and an illuminated exterior crown, alongside a planned 4,400-capacity entertainment venue expected to host 80 to 100 events per year. For Bank of America, that keeps the naming rights visible across an increasingly year-round calendar of NFL, MLS, entertainment and community traffic.
  • David Tepper, Owner and Chairman of Tepper Sports & Entertainment, said the extension reflects the organisations’ shared commitment to the Carolinas, with the wider redevelopment intended to turn the stadium corridor into a weekend destination for sports, entertainment and community events. That gives an already long-running naming rights deal a fresh runway as the building itself gets one of the biggest upgrades in its history.
